I was born and raised in Sweden. Growing up I, and many of my friends viewed blacks as being the beautiful ones. I looked at blacks with envy and viewed my own skin as lacking something. Once in New York, my dad talked to a cab driver. The cab driver commented on how Swedish girls were considered beautiful. My father commented on all the beautiful black women in the US and thought this country was clearly the winner.
It’s interesting to view the world through another person’s lens. Thank you for a great piece!
