I guess everyone experience these things differently. This is how it was for me. And for you. And I am guessing for some others too. Too often an accent is used as a label to classify and to minimize. My goal was to raise awareness around that particular aspect of being an immigrant. It does not mean it happens all the time. It does not mean a mispronounced word can also make me laugh. But when it is used as a way to minimize an opinion or the value of a person--then it hurts.
